# Black Friday 2026 Outdoor Gear: What Campers, Hikers and Overlanders Should Time, Buy Now or Skip

> Black Friday 2026 is November 27. The rain shells, jackets, sleeping bags, pads and power stations worth timing, what to buy now, and how to check a real discount.

- Method: picks chosen from Amazon listings and brand specs; not hands-on tested; current Amazon prices are on the page; content checked 2026-10-03.
- Quick answer: Black Friday is November 27, 2026. Time the gear you keep for years and that changes slowly: a seam-taped rain shell, an insulated jacket, an ISO-rated sleeping bag, an ASTM-rated pad and a LiFePO4 power station. Buy permethrin, picaridin and tech wash when you run out, and write down today's price before the sale.

## Key takeaways

- As of October 3, 2026 Amazon has not announced a 2026 Black Friday event; in 2025 its Black Friday Week ran November 20 to December 1 and was open to everyone.
- Before you count a markdown as a discount, check the 'Sold by' line, the version or model year in the title, and that the size and colour match the price you noted.
- The CPSC has recalled the EcoFlow Delta Max 2000 and the Goal Zero Yeti 3000X power stations since 2025; check any station's model against the notice, especially a used one.

## Products (chosen from listings, not tested)

1. **Marmot Men's PreCip Eco Rain Jacket** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CMS33YXX) — Buy it if you want one packable shell for most hikes; note the price now and compare in November.
   - Pros: NanoPro fabric, 100% seam taped, pit zips, stuffs into its own pocket, per the listing; 305 g in the men's, per Marmot's US page
   - Cons: The US listing gives no waterproof figure; Marmot's listings call the PreCip Evo the next generation
2. **Columbia Powder Lite II Insulated Hooded Jacket, Men's** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CLSDZ963) — Buy it for sleet and wet snow; colours and sizes are priced separately, so check yours.
   - Pros: Thermarator synthetic insulation that Columbia says traps warmth even when wet; Omni-Heat reflective lining, adjustable hood and Omni-Shield water repellency, per the listing
   - Cons: No insulation weight published, so its warmth cannot be compared on paper
3. **Columbia Delta Ridge II Down Jacket, Men's** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CLR8864Y) — Buy it for everyday dry cold; it goes under a rain shell when the weather turns wet.
   - Pros: 650-fill-power down with heat-sealed baffles and Omni-Heat lining, per the listing; Omni-Shield finish for light precipitation
   - Cons: No fill weight published
4. **Therm-a-Rest Boost 650 20F/-6C Down Sleeping Bag, Regular** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0DN3RRNNB) — Buy it for nights near freezing if you sleep on your side, and plan by the 32°F Comfort figure.
   - Pros: EN Comfort 32°F, Limit 20°F, Extreme -9°F, per Therm-a-Rest; 649 g of 650-fill hydrophobic duck down; WarmZip center zipper
   - Cons: Low stock at Amazon when we checked; 2 lb 11 oz, heavier than a mummy bag of the same rating
5. **Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XTherm NXT Sleeping Pad, Regular** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CS4P19QQ) — Buy it for winter camping; an older pad on clearance with a pre-2020 R-value is not comparable.
   - Pros: R-value 7.3 under ASTM F3340, per Therm-a-Rest; 15.5 oz in Regular; WingLock valve and pump sack included
   - Cons: An air pad: carry a foam pad under it on snow
6. **Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Portable Power Station, 1070Wh** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0D7PPG25F) — Buy it if the station rides in the car every trip; we found no CPSC recall of a Jackery station.
   - Pros: 1,070 Wh LiFePO4 at 23.8 lb; over 70% capacity after 4,000 cycles, per the listing; 1,500 W AC output; charges from 32 to 113°F, per Jackery's spec sheet
   - Cons: Charges from Jackery solar panels only, per the listing
7. **EcoFlow Delta 3 Portable Power Station, 1024Wh** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0DCBYMC9D) — Buy it if it will also run a CPAP through outages; it is a different model from the recalled Delta Max 2000.
   - Pros: 1,024 Wh LiFePO4, 4,000 cycles to 80%, per the listing; UPS switchover under 10 ms; 500 W solar input from any panel within its limits
   - Cons: 27.6 lb, per EcoFlow; the Delta 3 page gives no temperature range
8. **Sawyer Premium Permethrin for Clothing, Gear & Tents, Trigger Spray, 24 oz** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B001ANQVYU) — Buy it whenever the last bottle runs out; a markdown is a bonus, not a reason to wait.
   - Pros: 0.5% permethrin, the concentration the CDC names for clothing and gear; About five outfits per bottle; 6 weeks or 6 washes per treatment, per Sawyer
   - Cons: Never on skin, and keep cats away from treated items until they are dry, per Sawyer
9. **Sawyer Premium Insect Repellent, 20% Picaridin, Pump Spray, 4 oz** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0015KG5NK) — Buy it as the one repellent for skin, gear and a long day out.
   - Pros: 20% picaridin; up to 12 hours against mosquitoes and ticks, per the listing; Won't damage plastics or synthetic coatings, per Sawyer
   - Cons: A pump spray wastes some in wind; the lotion suits faces and children
10. **Nikwax Hardshell Cleaning & Waterproofing Duo-Pack, 300ml** (details: https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B000PGOOIS) — Buy it before the season's first wet trip; wash and heat the jacket first, as GORE-TEX advises.
   - Pros: Tech Wash plus TX.Direct Wash-In, both PFAS-free and water based, per the listing; One cap is about 50 ml, so dosing is simple
   - Cons: The wash-in half coats a lining too; use a spray-on for jackets with a wicking liner

A rain shell, a sleeping bag or a power station is the kind of purchase a camper, hiker or overlander times around Thanksgiving week: it lasts for years and the model changes slowly. A bottle of permethrin or tech wash is not. You buy it when it runs out. Below, the gear from our guides sorted into those two piles, and how to spot a real markdown.

**How we chose:** we did not test any of this gear; every pick comes from one of our guides, which compare makers' spec sheets and listings, and each was in stock and sold by Amazon.com or the brand's own store on October 3, 2026. We checked every brand against our CPSC recall database.

## Black Friday 2026 dates, and what Amazon has said

Black Friday is **Friday, November 27, 2026**, the day after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday is **Monday, November 30**. As of October 3, 2026, Amazon has published no dates, name or terms for a 2026 Black Friday event, and we will not guess them.

What Amazon did last year is on record. Its [2025 Black Friday Week announcement](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/retail/amazon-black-friday-deals-2025) says the event kicked off November 20 at 12:01 a.m. PST and ran through December 1, open to everyone. If 2026 follows that shape, the week before Thanksgiving is when to start checking the listings you noted.

Some event prices are for Prime members; Amazon offers a [free trial to eligible new members](https://www.amazon.com/tryprimefree). Before any of that, Amazon's [Prime Big Deal Days](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/retail/amazon-prime-big-deals-day-2026-when-october-6-7) run October 6 and 7, 2026, for Prime members only. Treat October as your first price check, not your last.

Sellers change. The women's PreCip Eco was offered by a third-party seller rather than Amazon.com when we checked, so it gets no row here; our rain jacket guide covers both cuts, and the seller may be Amazon.com again by November.

## Worth timing: rain shells and insulated jackets

A rain shell is the clearest case. The [Marmot PreCip Eco](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CMS33YXX) is the only jacket in our [rain jacket guide](https://wildprooflab.com/rain-wind/best-rain-jackets-for-hiking) whose listing states taped seams, pit zips and a packable build, and none of that changes with the season. Marmot's listings already call the PreCip Evo the next generation, and an outgoing model is the one that tends to be cleared. The Eco is still the shell we would buy.

Insulated jackets are priced by colour and size. Our [down vs synthetic guide](https://wildprooflab.com/cold-weather/insulated-jackets-down-vs-synthetic) makes the [Powder Lite II](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CLSDZ963) the pick for sleet and wet snow and the [Delta Ridge II](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CLR8864Y) the pick for dry cold. Columbia publishes neither a fill weight nor an insulation weight, so a markdown changes nothing you can compare: pick by the weather, then check the price of your size.

Patagonia and Arc'teryx make jackets we would also consider, but neither sells through its own Amazon store, so a November listing under those names comes from a third-party seller. Buy those from the maker.

## Worth timing: a sleeping bag and a pad

A bag's ISO 23537 or EN 13537 Comfort and Limit ratings do not change from one sale to the next, so it is safe to wait. The [Therm-a-Rest Boost 650 20F](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0DN3RRNNB) has a 20°F Limit and a 32°F Comfort, per Therm-a-Rest; our [sleeping bag ratings guide](https://wildprooflab.com/cold-weather/sleeping-bag-temperature-ratings) explains why a cold sleeper plans by the second number. Buy the bag for the coldest night you expect, not the one marked down.

Pads are the one place a clearance can mislead. ASTM F3340 was published in 2019, and Therm-a-Rest says its earlier R-values came from a different procedure, as our [R-value guide](https://wildprooflab.com/cold-weather/sleeping-pad-r-value-guide) explains. The [NeoAir XTherm NXT](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0CS4P19QQ) carries an ASTM R-value of 7.3. An older pad with a pre-2020 figure and no ASTM label cannot be compared with it, however good the price looks.

## Worth timing, with a recall check: power stations

A power station is a lithium battery you will own for years, and both brands here now sell LiFePO4 packs rated for thousands of cycles. The [Jackery Explorer 1000 v2](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0D7PPG25F) is the lightest per watt-hour in our [power station guide](https://wildprooflab.com/overlanding/portable-power-stations-for-car-camping); the [EcoFlow Delta 3](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0DCBYMC9D) adds a sub-10 ms UPS for home backup. Our [Jackery vs EcoFlow comparison](https://wildprooflab.com/overlanding/jackery-vs-ecoflow) sets them side by side at three sizes.

Two things to check before a markdown on any station. First, the model. The CPSC recalled the [EcoFlow Delta Max 2000](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/EcoFlow-Technology-Recalls-Delta-Max-2000-Power-Stations-Due-to-Risk-of-Serious-Burn-Injury-and-Fire-Hazard) in October 2025 and the [Goal Zero Yeti 3000X](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/Goal-Zero-Recalls-YETI-3000X-Power-Stations-Due-to-Serious-Risk-of-Injury-from-Fire-and-Burn-Hazards) in August 2026, both for fire hazards; a cleared older model may be the one on the list. Second, the version: "v2" and "Delta 3" are generations, and the previous one is not the same product at a lower price.

Winter buyers should read the temperature line too. Jackery rates the Explorer 1000 v2 to charge from 32 to 113°F, per its spec sheet, so a station bought in November charges in the warm car, not on the frosty picnic table.

## Buy now: repellent and gear care

Consumables are not worth waiting for. Sawyer's [24 oz permethrin spray](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B001ANQVYU) treats about five outfits and lasts 6 weeks or 6 washes per treatment, per Sawyer, so a hunter or hiker in tick country works through a bottle a season; our [permethrin guide](https://wildprooflab.com/bugs-ticks/permethrin-clothing-spray) does the sums. The same goes for the [20% picaridin spray](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B0015KG5NK) in our [DEET vs picaridin guide](https://wildprooflab.com/bugs-ticks/deet-vs-picaridin-insect-repellent): buy it when the bottle is empty.

Gear care has a season of its own. GORE-TEX says to wash a jacket, tumble it 20 minutes to reactivate the DWR and only then re-proof, as our [DWR spray guide](https://wildprooflab.com/gear-care/dwr-spray-for-rain-jackets) explains. The [Nikwax Hardshell Duo-Pack](https://wildprooflab.com/blog/black-friday-2026-outdoor-gear#product-B000PGOOIS) does the wash and the re-proof for an unlined shell. Do it before the first wet trip, whatever the calendar says.

## How to tell a real discount

1. **Write the price down now.** The table above shows Amazon's current price, time-stamped when shown. On the day, compare the listing with that number, not with its own "was" price.
2. **Check the seller in the cart.** A lower price from a storefront you cannot name is not the same product with the same returns.
3. **Check the model year or version.** "v2", "NXT", "II", "Eco" and "Evo" are different products; a cleared older version is not a discount on the current one.
4. **Compare the same size and colour.** Apparel listings price each variant on its own.
5. **Check the recall list** for anything with a battery or a burner, on our [recalls page](https://wildprooflab.com/recalls).
6. **Read the return terms before paying.** The FTC's [online shopping advice](https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/online-shopping) says to check a seller's return and refund terms first, and notes that a credit card gives the most protection.

## What to wait for, and what not to

**Wait for** anything with a model year, version or seasonal colour that you do not need before Thanksgiving: the shell, the jackets, the bag, the pad and the power station above. The spec you are buying does not change while you wait.

**Do not wait for** gear a November trip depends on: a shell for a wet hike on the 14th, a CO alarm for the camper, a bag rated for a night you have already booked. Buy those now, in the right size. The wrong size at any discount goes back anyway.

**Skip, whatever the price:** a pad with no ASTM label on its R-value, a bag whose listing gives no Comfort or Limit figure, and a power station from a seller that is neither the brand nor Amazon.com; our power station guide covers the CPSC's warning about one such seller.

## Recalls on record for the brands above

Our recall database, built from CPSC and FDA notices since 2023, lists nothing for Marmot, Columbia, Therm-a-Rest bags or pads, Jackery, Sawyer or Nikwax. It does list these in the same categories:

- **EcoFlow Delta Max 2000**, October 9, 2025, fire hazard, free firmware fix, per the [CPSC](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/EcoFlow-Technology-Recalls-Delta-Max-2000-Power-Stations-Due-to-Risk-of-Serious-Burn-Injury-and-Fire-Hazard). The Delta 3 is a different model.
- **Goal Zero Yeti 3000X**, August 20, 2026, fire and burn hazard, about 46,200 units, per the [CPSC](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/Goal-Zero-Recalls-YETI-3000X-Power-Stations-Due-to-Serious-Risk-of-Injury-from-Fire-and-Burn-Hazards).
- **OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers**, July 30, 2026, about 1.5 million units, one death, models UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01 and H01(PD), per the [CPSC](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/OCOOPA-Direct-Recalls-1-5-Million-Rechargeable-Hand-Warmers-Due-to-Risk-of-Serious-Injury-or-Death-from-Fire-and-Burn-Hazards-One-Death-Reported-Imported-by-Shenzhen-Street-Cat-Technology).
- **Energizer Large Power Indicator Lanterns**, January 15, 2026, overheating, per the [CPSC](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/Energizer-Recalls-Rechargeable-Lanterns-Due-to-Overheating).
- **MSR cooking pots**, February 22, 2024, from Cascade Designs, which also makes Therm-a-Rest; no Therm-a-Rest pad or bag is listed, per the [CPSC](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2024/Cascade-Designs-Recalls-Camping-Cooking-Pots-Due-to-Burn-and-Scald-Hazards).

## Frequently Asked Questions

### When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday, November 27, 2026, with Cyber Monday on November 30. Amazon has not announced its own 2026 event; in 2025 its Black Friday Week opened November 20 and ran through December 1.

### Is camping gear discounted on Black Friday?

Nobody can say in advance, and we do not guess sale prices. What we can say is which gear is safe to wait for: anything with a fixed spec and a slow model cycle.

### Should I buy a sleeping bag on Black Friday?

Only one whose ISO or EN Comfort rating matches the coldest night you expect. Men's and unisex bags are usually named for their Limit and women's bags for their Comfort, so read the label, not the name.

### Is a discounted power station safe to buy?

Check the exact model against the CPSC's notices for the EcoFlow Delta Max 2000 and Goal Zero Yeti 3000X, buy from the brand's store or Amazon.com, and read the charging temperature range if you camp in winter.
